UNIVERSITY EXAMS.
Sir, —It is a mercy that the University of New Zealand is not rnn by chickenhearted educationalists, or they wonlcl bo at their wit's end to meet the demands of students who fail and then clry but, against the difficulty of the examinations, and of others who pass through and then demand the closing of the gates against ail but the brilliant, For some years I have watched developments and have frequently compared the requirements of tho progressive University of London with those of New Zealand, and I consider that for a young country with a smalf population and limited means, New Zealand does not s.ui!er by comparison with London.
