Since the armistice 541,000 buildings have been restored in the devastated areas of France. A length o"f 26,583 miles of roadway and 1183 miles of railroads have been reconstructed and 5,000,000 acres of land have been put again under cultivation. Nevertheless a period of five years will be required completely to wipe out the ravages of warfare. The work of restoration has cost, so far, 70 milliards of francs.
