FREEZING DEADLOCK ENDS.

[ivr TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESVOKDENT, ] WELLINGTON, Thursdsy. - The conciliation commissioner for the North Island!, Mr. P. Hally, reported that an agreement had been reached to-day rat the conference between the representatives of the freezing companies and the Freezing Workers' Union, at which he presided.

The agreement was that a joint application, be made immediately by the parties to the Arbitration Court for a new award to supersede the existing award, which doe's not expire until June, and that if the Arbitration Court should amend the rates of wages, such alteration, if any be' made retrospective as far a.'i possible to December 1. It was also agreed that the men should ! be instructed forthwith to accept engagement at all works. The employers were represented at the conference by Sir Francis Boys (New Zealand Refrigerating Company, Canterbury), and Messrs. J. Milne (Wellington Meat Export Company), T. Simpson {Auckland Farmers' Freezing Company), F. ss. Candy . (Hawkc's Bay Farmers' Freezing Company), J. T. Rogerson (Lougbutn Freezing Company), W. H. Tripe (Gear. Meat Company), D. Allan (Wairkrapa Froaen Meat Company), C. G. WUken (secretary of the South Island Freezing Companies' - Association),, and F. B. Saunderson (secretary of the North Island Freezing Companies' Association).

Tho workers wore represented by Messrs. H. C. Revell (secretary c f the New Zealand Freezing Workers' .Federation), A. McLeod (Wellington), T. C. Ellis (Canterbury), A. Baker (Welling, ton), J, Hutchinson (president of the Freezing .-Workers' federation)., W. E. Sill (Auckland) , J. Millburn (Qtago and Southland), and A. Hudson (Poverty Bay).

Operations en lambs for export, will accordingly be commenced at the Westfield and Southdown works to-day.

The first call for butchers to operate on export le.mb was made by the Westfield Company on November IS, when there was no response.
