KOWHAI HIGH SCHOOL.
THE CHARGE FOR WATER. A meeting of the Kowhai Junior High School Committee this week was presided over by the chairman, Sir. S. E. Chappell. The chairman reported a satisfactory conclusion to the negotiations with the Mount Albert Borough Council, regarding the water : charges, account, the council having .agreed to charge at the rate of Is a 1000 gallons from the commencement of supply to the school It was decided to thank the council for meeting the committee in the matter.
The principal, Mr. -, R. _E. Rodman, re ■ported having arranged . for an exhibition of schocd work and sports display next Wednesday afternoon, it was decided lo make as admission charge of: sixpence, the proceeds/ to; go , toward sports equipment aiid ground improvement. An effort is to be made to induce the Education Department to acquire school ground frontages ;in Onslow Road, the reeling of member# being that this should be donii before land values increased. The chairman■ and secretary werci ap pointed: to confer with 'the principal re far ding the extension of the Savings lank scheme . to prospective, pupils next year from the surrounding schools, who already had accounts at these schools.
