December 28, 30. 31—Auckland Trotting Club. January B—Northland Trotting Club. NOTES BY PICADOR. P. Riudle arrived yesterday with Deanwood and Parkwood, while he also brought Final McKinnev north for J. Henderson. St. Maura and other horses from Canterbury are expected to arrive this morning. Goldfinch, who is engaged in the Manukau Handicap on Saturday, has had tvo starts this season for a win and one unplaced performance. She accounted for the Mavvhera Handicap at Greymouth on Labour Day, beating Planet and a number of other useful pacers. Goldfinch goes well in saddle and will command a large following on Saturday. Kotuku Jack, who has engagements gt the coming Otahuhu meeting, is a full-brother to that good horse I'rince Pointer. He was successful once in four starts last season, winning the Eclipse Handicap (for three and four-vear-olds) at New Brighton i.i 3m 33 2-ss. It is probable that he has made some improvement since tl»en and he aay get a stake at the coming meeting. The form shown by Bingen King last season indicates that he is a very promising pacer,. his record' being two wins and a second"in five starts. His beat performance was to finish second to High Sea in the Napier Handicap (1} miles) at Hastings, going 2m 54 2-6s. which is a fraction better than 2m 20s to the mile. Bingen King is a five-year-old horse by Native King fri.-m Kirwee and may turn out a jrood one this season. He is engaged in the Stewards' Handicap on Saturday.

Stanmoor. who has two engagements on Saturday, has been working freely at Mangere. The Wildmoor gelding goes well with the weight up and he may prove troublesome in the Manukau Handicap, which is a saddle event. When Sister Beatrice contested the Green Lane Trot Handicap at Alexandra Park lost month she looked certain to be first or second as the field raced into the straight, but she broke badly in the run home and missed a place. Taking a line on that form, she looks to have a good chance of getting a stake at the coming meeting if she goes kindly. Roma Bingen won well at her last start and is an improving young trotter that may repeat the performance Boon. There has been nothing special about her recent track doings, but she has been doing her work in good style and should strip in excellent order on Saturday. Cute Lad showed up well at his last start, when he led the field into the straight in the Manukau Handicap, won bv Black Lila. The bay pacer can go 10 furlongs smartly and he should make a good showing on Saturday. " Gold Sovereign trotted two good races at Alexandra Park last month, notching a win and a second. This fellow is on the improve and he may be on the winning list again soon. The manner in which Tradesman trotted into third place behind those good horses Waikaha and Money Spider in the Hillsboro' Handicap at Alexandra Park last month indicated that he is returning to form.. He seems to have gone on the right was, m the meantime and may race in improved fashion at the coming meeting. At his best he is capable of trotting two miles in fast time. T. Richards has Tiger Salve and Longford working usefully at Mangere and both horses bear a hea'thv appearance. Longford is not engaged on Saturday. Tiger Salve will be a competitor in the Campbell Handicap. It is a long time since Lady Joan displayed anv form and she was unplaced in her six starts last season, while .she also went unkindly in her two outings last month. The roan mare looks well and is capable of winning _ races, but _ she is too uncertain for a betting proposition. Among the accentors for the Mangere Handicap on Saturday is Marionette, who ■notched a win and a second last season. She has not raced since she won the Leamington Handicap (li miles) at the Cambridge meeting nt Alexandra Park in April in 3m 36 3-ss. Nanper. who is engaged in the Manukau Handicap on Saturday, was speedy over short courses a few seasons ago. but it is several years since he showed any form. The countrv-tramed pacer Rock Hinton reads nicrlv placed in the Manukau Handicap on Saturday. At his Inst start he finished third in the Liverpool Handicap (It mile") from a 2m KOs mark, after having to go through a big field.

Anselm was a disappointment Inst season, Tint lie showed sitrna of striking form in .Tnrip, -when he finished eernnd to -Jean Darling in the Liverpool Handicap. If he repeats that form he mav prove hard to bent- in th» Manukan Handicap, as he goes well in saddle.
