FALSE DECLARATION.

STATEMENT OF WIFE'S AGE. PROSECUTION AT HAMILTON. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] HAMILTON. Wednesday. A plea of guilty was entered ,by Robert Basil Eric Story, of Pio Pio, who appeared at the Magistrate's Court, Hamil ton, to-day on a charge of,making a false declaration in connection with his mar riage on April 28, 1026. Detective Sweeney stated that as a result of a letter received he met accused who made a statement in which he admitted having declared his wifeV age as over 21 years, whereas he knew that she was at the time only 17£ year# old. The reason for the statement wae that he was not certain of having the con sent of the girl's receives. The witness said that the father, with whom the couple had resided since tbp marriage, apparently approved of the marriage. Accused had acted in a straightforward manner throughout the inquiries.

The magistrate, Mr. Wyvern Wilson committed accused to the Supreme Court at Hamilton for sentence

On the application of Mr. J. F. Strang, represented accused, bail was fixed at £lO in his own recognisance.
