HISTORIC HOWICK CHURCH.
DEDICATION ANNIVERSARY. The 79th anniversary of the- dedication of the historic church of AH Saints', Howick, was held yesterday. This church is the oldest, except one, in this Dominion. There was a large congregation, and many former residents made a. special journey to attend the service. The primate, Archbishop Averill, was the celebrant at Holy Communion, and was assisted by Canon Mason. Archdeacon Sirakin was chaplain. The archbishop gave an eloquent sermon, and referred to the renovation of the church which has been carried out, and congratulated those responsible for the careful manner in which the repairs had been done. He invited offerings for the defraying of the debt incurred, £ll9. The collection which was then taken up amounted to nearly £136. The Te Deum was sur.g at the clo'se of the service. The church was beautifully decorated with white flower?, and all" the graves in the pretty churchyard had been given special attention.
