ENTHRONEMENT OF BISHOP. PROGRESS OF PREPARATIONS. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN COBBBSPO'KDEHT. ] HAMILTON. Monday. The establishment of the Waikato diocese and the preparations for the enthronement of Archdeacon Cherrington as the first bishop have occupied the diocesan commissary, Archdeacon E. M. Cowie, and his committee, for some months. The synod decided that a tainimttm of £14,000 was required as a central capital fund, the revenue from which would go toward helping the poorer parishes and the home mission districts. The sum of £20,000 is really required, but the minimum aimed at is £14,000. Toward this amount £6OOO has been subscribed or promised. The people of Hamilton mil shortly be asked to Subscribe to the fund. Provision has been mad© for the maintenance costs of the diocese, which are estimated at £3OOO a year. The purchase of a permanent bishopscourt has been postponed until after the arrival of the bishop elect. St. Peter's Church, Hamilton, will, be the scene of the consecration and enthronement of the new bishop on St. Andrew's Day, November 30. There will be holy communion at 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. The consecration ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. A garden party will be held at the vicarage between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., and the enthronement of the bishop elect will take place in the church at 8 p.m.
