GLEN EDEN TOWN BOARD.
Sir, —Mr. Levy intimates his intention not to carry this controversy any further through the medium of the press. We can quite understand his mason for that decision, bat Messrs. Hayes and West have no intention of entering into fcho public debate ho suggests, and under 1 his conditions, whereby the only result would be that the winners vrould be those who adopted the customary tactics beloved of a section of the local community and "packed" the meeting. The last school committee election is an instance of which they boasted so gleefully. On the other hand, we shall only the controversy per medium of and by permission of the press, so that all may learn the truth, and where the contestants will not subsequently he able to deny any statements they may make,, As far as a debate is concerned, there is nothing to debate about on this subject, where the facts themselves are self-evident. Mr. Errington, who is a registered plumber and licensed drainer under the A.C.C., will demonstrate the facts upon the spot to any ratepayer who is interested and will call upon him. Further, the minutes of the old and the present board are available for inspection by the public, where they can verify the facta n,s stated by Messrs Hayes and West, ao what necessity or reason is there for this silly debate proposed by Mr. Levy ? We will make Mr. Levy a much more sensible proposition, and that is that the undersigned members of the old board will give £2O to- any local charity—to be named by Mr. Levy—if ho can prove that the old board ever passed or approved of the use of 9in. pipes on this Croydon Road subdivision easement. On * the other hand Mr. Levy to cover this £2O with a similar amount, to be forfeited bv him if he fails to prove this, a competent arid independent committee to judge. This will end all unnecessary argument upon a subject about which "there is no room for argument, and will give Mr. Levy ample opportunity to display that sense of "British f airplay" to which he is so fond of appealing. •T, H. Hayfs. •Tamss T. Errington. .T, M. West. S. Bourne.
