SECOND DAY AT THAMES

NANCY LEE SCORES AGAIN.

SURPRISE BY PASSIONATE. MANY INTERESTING FINISHES. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN* CORRESPONDENT. ] THAMES. Monday. Bright sunshine to-day counteracted the effect of heavy overnight rain at Parawai for the concluding day of the Thames Jockey Club's annual meeting. A defect in the course which apparently caused three horses to fall on the first day was railed off and there was no more trouble to-day at the turn into the straight. However there were several falls. The first occurred in the second race when King Emerald brought down two other horses along the back stretch. The scene of the fall was immediately inspected by the committee and stipendiary stewards who decided the occurrence was purely accidental. The fall of Explorer at the stand double in the steeplechase, resulted in his rider. W. Howe, breaking a collarbone. Nancy Lee again annexed the chief sprint event. Passionate, ridden by Conquest. scored a surprise win in the Thames Plate. The racing throughout was good, the handicapping being responsible for manv close finishes. The totalisator handled £15,673 10s for the day, compared with £17,410 10s for the second day when the club last raced at Thames. The total for the meeting was £33,153 10s. compared with £37.(534 for both days of the 1924 meeting, a decrease of £4540 10s. The club raced at Takapuna last year. DETAILS OF THE RACING.
