OLD GIRLS' REUNION
DIOCESAN HIGH SCHOOL. The Old Girls' Reunion of the Diocesan High School which was held at the school last evening took the form of a reception, given by the head-mistress, Miss Pulling. There was a very large attendance, tho occasion being tho last on which Miss Pulling would bo present in her official capacity as president, having tendered her resignation as head-mistress of the school. In her presidential, address Miss Pulling welcomed the girls, expressing great pleasure, at the large number present at the rally. From the foundation of the school Miss Pulling said she had always felt it was important and necessary to impress upon the girls the idea of tho permanency of the school through countless ages. The idea had surely been realised in tho growth and development that, had attended its progress. In the forthcoming change of head-mistresses the school was reaching an epoch in its history. Tho school from quite a small beginning was now an independent body with a future and a purpose. With tho coming years it must move forward in the spirit of its founders, The story of tho school's growth might be regarded as a twentieth century romance. With tho many changes that must eventuate there were certain qualities that were essential to its well-being. Perhaps tho greatest oE these <vas confidence in its leaders allied to a mind receptive to new ideas.
The stolid stodgy wall of conservatism could have no place in the structure that was slowly being erected. The traditions of the school stood, for a standard that embodied health, happiness, kindness and a readiness to help others. In these days of unrest it was necessary to guard closely the spiritual life, to keep a healthy outlook and to stand firm in the knowledge of a guiding, power. At the conclusion Of her address Miss Pulling received an ovation from the girls, who were later in the evening her guests at supper served in the dining halL
