LAWN TENNIS COUNCIL.
NATIONAL RANKING LIST. GROUPING SYSTEM ADOPTED. THE NEW SOUTH WALES TEAM [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN" CORRESPONDENT. ] WELLINGTON. Thursday. The management committee reported to the council of the Now Zealand Lawn Tennis Association tliis evening that the New South Wales Association had accepted the invitation to send a team to Now Zealand at the end of the present year. The team would be fully representative and would includo F. E. Kalms, the New South Wales State champion.
Acting on a recommendation from the council the committee had prepared a national ranking list. In order to overcome the difficulty of correct, placing of the players who had taken part in few tournaments or inter-association matches, the ranking lists had been arranged in groups. The lists were as follow: Group No. 1. —G. Ollivier (Canterbury). Group No. 2. E. D. Andrews (Wellington ). Group No. 3. E. L. Bartleet (Auckland), I). G. France, L. Franco and J. C. Peacock (Wellington), I. Seay (Canterbury), E. B. W: Smyth and N. Wilson (Wellington). Group No. 4. —G. Aitken an{ P. G. .Greenwood (Canterbury), E. W. Gri£ fiths (Auckland), M. L. Lnmpe (Wanganui), B. B. Loughnan (Canterbury), V. Page (Otago), J. B. Parker (Wellington), T. W. Patterson (Canterbury), L. Robson (Auckland). A. G. Wallace (Taranaki), A. L. Wheeler (Wanganui). Among others, J. T. Laurenson, A. Sims and R. N. K. Swanston had not been included owing to- insufficient performances during the past year. Ladies.—Miss M. Speirs (Canterbury). Mrs. W. A. Scott (South Canterbury), Miss M. Macfaxlane (Auckland), Miss B. Knicrht (Auckland)', Miss M. Tracy (Wellington), Miss M. Wake (Canterbury), Miss E. Travers (Wellington), Miss E. M. Ballantyno (Taranaki), Miss Y. Ferrier (Canterbury). Miss Pattison (Otago). Mrs. N. P. Green (Hawke's Bay). Mrs. A. Arneil (North Auckland). Mrs. Mfelodv, Mrs. Scott-Watson and Mrs. Hodges had not been ranked owing to insufficient performances during the past year.
The chairman, Mr. 8. Gawith, said the players had been placed in alphabetical order in groups and the order in which the names of players appeared in the various groups was no indication of the respective merits..
Mr. White-Parsons said the list had been prepared on last year's performances. The application of ihe Wellington Association for the right, to hold a North Island championship tournament at Miramnr next Easter was granted.
