"5.H.C.." writes:— "From the reports in the papers it would appear that the dispute between the Auckland Cricket Association and the Auckland Cmpires' Association haa not yet been settled, tho latter body evidently holding fj.st to its demand for Ground passes, As o:ne of the public I was under the impression that umpires received an honorarium, but have been recently informed that such is. not the case and that some of these men have been officiating for 20 years without remuneration, and very little recognition by the association at all, not even baing allowed a delegate. which, I believe, is usual with sporting bodies. If this is true, it is time . the Cricket Association learned to appreciate the services of its umpires, whiih apparently it does not now. I hope that some of your readers more conversant with the facta will take the matter up and give it lull publicity,"
