MAORI TRUST BOARD. DISTRIBUTION OF MONEYS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON. Thursday. Regulations as to the constitution of the Trust Board which is created by the recent legislation dealing with the Crown's acquisition from the natives of a portion of the bed of Lako Taupo and the Waikato River were gazetted to-night. The board is to consist of eight members of the Tnwharetoa tribe, to be appointed by the Government, and they will hold office for two years. Five members will constitute a quorum. All money received by the board is to be deposited in a trust account and no moneys may be paid out except by cheque signed by two members of the board and countersigned by a member of the Public Service. Provision is included for tho payment of £1 a day attendance fee to members, plus reasonable travelling expenses. Where a question arises as to the expenditure of money by the board, the proportion in which any benefits shall be allocated among the respective hapus entitled to it, or as to whether any .project resolved upon by a public meeting of the members of the Tuwharetoa tribe should be undertaken by the board, any person aggrieved by the board's decision may apply to the native Minister to decide the matter at issue. The nativo Minister may decide the question in dispute or what is right and proper to do under the circumstances, and the board is obliged to act upon his direction.
