' [by telegraph.--own correspondent.] ROTORUA, Wednesday. * In order to pay their respects to the 1 memory of the late Sir James Carroll, * Mr. Tai Mitchell and about 40 representa- ! tive members of the Arawa tribe, will proceed to Gisborne on Friday. There are at present in the course of erection in Tutanekai Street three fine ' ferroconcrete shops. The contract prico f is in the vicinity of £4OOO and the shops i are being built to the order of Messrs. i E. T. Harris and Company and Mr. J. 1 Morgan. Tenders were opened at the office of the architect, Mr. E. La Trobe Hill, this evening for the new high school to be erected at Rotorua. The following tenders were received: —H. C. Flyger, £18,500; Waikato Timber and Joinery Company, £13,506; Duncan and Buchanan, £13,523; Hargreaves and Company, £13,130; H. C. Curlett, £12,496; Lees Bros., £11,700; C. Lloyd, £10,8%; and Geaney and Clark, £10,648. The architect's estimate is £10,790. The tenders will bo forwarded to the. Education Department at Wellington.'
