In tho Supreme Court Robert Campbell, a Maori half-caste, was sentenced to three years' imprisonment with hard labour for attempting to defraud the Commercial Bank of £586. His Honor said the prisoner, who had been convicted at least four times previously for dishonesty, could not expect preferential treatment just because- ho was a half-caste.
