TAIHAPE AXEMEN'S CLUB.
ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAIHAPE. Wednesday. The first meeting of the Management Committee of tho Taihape St. Patrick's Day Axemen's and Athletic Club was held this week. There were present Mr. W. J. I Coutts, Father Doolaghty, Messrs. C. Cherry. D. Neagle, E. Healey. J. Donovan. "W. Howens, J. Ryan. W. Riley. E. Lenihan. and W. P. Dowling. Mr. W. J. Coutts was elected chairman for the ensuing year. Messrs. Dowling and Lenihan tendered thsir resignations as joint secretaries and Mr. Dowling resigned his position as treasurer. Mr. A. M. Ryan was elected secretary and treasurer. It was decided, on the motion of Mr. C. Cherry, that an appreciation of the services of the retiring secretaries be placed on the minutes. As there was a vacancy on the committee, Messrs. J. Donoghue, \\ T . P. Dowling, K. H. Smith, and E. Lenihan were nominated for the position. A ballot resulted in Mr. Donoghue being elected. It was resolved that the members of the Management Committee form the executive for emergency business, such ns deciding protests on the ground etc.: five to form a quorum. It was agreed that a meeting of the committee be held as early aa possible to draw up a programme and to fix a date for a general meeting. It was left to the chairman and the secretary to arrange a night for the meeting, rit which Messrs. Dowl„ing and Lenihan were invited to be present. »*]
