The Trustees under the Will of the late Humphrey Ravvlings offer three Scholarships for competition in December next. The Scholarships are tenable for three years, commencing from the first term in the year 1926, and consist of free tuition at either the Auckland Grammar School or King's College as the parents of the scholars may choose. A maintenance allowance of £lO per annum, payable quarterly, will also be advanced to each scholar. Only boys under the age of twelve years on December 1 next, attending one of the Sublio common schools of the Provincial listrict of Auckland, and the sons of poor parenU, will be eligible for the Scholarship. Applications containing the names and addresses of applicants must be sent not later than Ist DECEMBER NEXT, to the Trustees, by whom due notice of the time and place of examination will be given. Provision has now been made for a Girls' Hostel, which will be ready for Boarders on the opening of the School on February 7. 1927. As there will be accommodation for not more than about 55 Girls, and as that number are now boarding privately, early application is necessary, and should be made to the Principal. The Hostel is. in quite different grounds from that of the Boys, and will be in charge of the Senior Mistress of the School, assisted by other House Mistresses and a capable Matron. A new and larger Hostel for Boys is now in course of erection on the New Grounds, and will be ready . for occupation at the beginning of the Firat Term, 1927. The two Hostels (BOYS' and GIRLS') are in different grounds altogether, the former in the New and the latter in the Old School Grounds, and are supervised by entirely different staffs. This year a cottage has had to be rented to accommodate the overflow from the present Hostel so that immediate application is necessary if accommodation is to be assured for next year.
