MATCHES AT WHANGAREI. MANC.APAI TEAM BEATEN. [BY TKLHGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHANGAREI, Tuesday. Conditions were against good marksmanship in the challenge match at the Otaika range yesterday between the Whangarei arid Mangapai Rifle Clubs. The challengers, Whangarei, won the trophy by a margin of 54 points. The ranges were 200. 300 and 500 yards, and details were:— Whangarei.—J. P. White. 31. 28. 23-88; C. Baker. 31. 28, 29—£8; A. E. Willcoctoj. 30, 28, 23—87; P. J. Tobm. 28 , 28, 23—85; E. H. Foot, 28, 28, 28—84; L. Norris.., 32, 21, 30—83; W. Norris, 23, 24 , 30—82. Total. 680. Mangapai.—A. Thompson, 27, 22, 21— 70. Total, 626. The Whangarei Club also fired for Mr. E. A. Lacey's trophy, the conditions beinc seven shots at 200 yds. and ten shots at 300 and 500 yds. Patterson (4), 26, 30, 40—100. C. N. White is only 12 years of: age and is following in his father's footsteps. Mr. J.. P. White has been a noted and most consistent shot for years.
