D. PELHAM PROMINENT.

AN ATHLETE OF SURPRISES. The praise earned by D. Peiham for his play at fullback for the Maori Rugby team against Swansea on Saturday will be well ' received by Auckland football supporters. Before the Swansea match Peiham had been given very few opportunities to prove his worth, but now thai he has made good more should bo heard of him. The success of Auckland's only representative in the team recalls a previous j occasion when he completely upset calculations which tended to belittle his ability. This was in 1925, when he was one of the mainstays of the Auckland team competing in the Dominion swimming championships at Christchnrch. Peiham showed a distinct aversion to training and his apparent indifference caused a good deal of concern. But he won the 440vds. championship in the record time of sm. 38 3-55., and was placed in the 220 yds. and 880 yds.
