The borough engineer, Mr. J. Rogers, said that if the council decided upon- increasing the width of concrete bevontf the proposed 18ft,, the estimates would be increased considerably. As it .was the estimates had been cut Very fine. It was decided to adopt a recommendation from the Works Committee to call for tenders for the construction. Plans and specifications have already been adopted. Reporting upon the system of town planning carried out in the borough, the engineer stated that for the past 16 years a systematic programme had been followed. He intended to submit at sv later any further improvement scheme which might be considered bene-' ficial. A tentative scheme wag under, consideration, providing for improvements to Norman by and Boston Roads, and an overhead bridge over the Kaipara rail-' way so as to provide a more direct rout-O' to the new Auckland railway station, via Nugent Street and Grafton Road. \
