HAWKERS.
Sir.—Allow mc a little space to reply to "Householder." Does he think we do this for fun ? Take my lot. I have, a homo to keep and have tried my best to get work, hut have failed, though I am well j known and a. first-class man, but not fit for heavy road work. For years I was a market gardener and went round with a cart, but the Chinese sold a penny cheaper. He has no children to keep. Surely any housewife can tell a man from a good-for-nothing by his dress and ways.* New Zealander. Sir, —Tn. reply to "Householder" re above, let me point out to him that some of us are forced into hawking against our wills to keep home going. I hold highest references from leading people, out of work through no fault of my own and a son of a pioneer. Gardener.
