BOROUGH OF OTAHUHU.
PURITY OF THE WATER, The Otahuhu Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor. Mr- R. B. Todd, presiding. Mr. J. C. Paino was welcomed on resuming his seat after being away for qine months on a tour of Europe. Correspondence was received from the Minister of Health and the medical officer of health, relative to a certain firm burying offal near the Otahuhu pumping station. The Health Department contended the distance from the well was too great for the offal to pollute the water. It was agreed that, further representations should be made to the Minister, prohibiting the burying of the offal, and thus allay any doubts that might be exercising the minds of residents of the borough as to the purity of the water. Building permits to the value of £3OOO have been granted during the past 14 days.
