CARICATURE OF THE KING.
NEW ZEALAND BTAMP DESIGN New Zealand h&s just issued two new stamps which bear an extremely bad likeness to King Georga, says the London Weekly Dispatch. It is stated, in fact, that this is the worst representation of the King that has ever appeared on a stamp, and there is & growing demand that they should ba withdrawn. "We should not be surprised if they are withdrawn from circulation in a very short time," said 11 representative of Messrs. Whitfield, King and Company, the Ipswich stamp dealers. "These are the first stamps of more than Is in value which have been issued since 1898, the old Queen Victoria stamps continuing in use, and now that they have issued a 2s and 3s bearing the 'likeness* of King George they have used this deplorable design! From a collector's point cf view these stamps are likely to be valuable, ss, if they are withdrawn, they will become very source."
