STORMONT SK'ELD RULES. QUESTION OF ALTERATIONS. DECISIONS OF COMMITTEE. The Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby Leaeue met last evening. Mr W. J. Hsmmill presiding. A long discussion arose over Mr. R Doble's notice of notion dealing with the question of what teams should have tho right to play for the Stormont Shield. Th« flonditions at present provide that, if the winning team in the championship is also the winning team in the Uoope Roosto* competition, the runners up in the latter competition should be one of the contestant* for the Stormont Shield. Mr. Doble said he did not agree with the present conditions, and his motion provided that the club that gained the most championship points in the second round oI the club competition should play the chain pion team for the Stormont Shield. H» suggested that of the gate takings 33 1-3 per cent, should go to tho League, and of th» remainder 60 per cent, should go to th» winning team and 40 per cent, to the losers. Mr. W. J. Davidson agreed with tho latter clause of the motion, but his club suggested that the runners-up in the club competition only should take part in tha match. Mr. B. Longbottom said his club would not support a team which had gained second place in the second round taking part in the Stormont Shield match. Mr. C. Adamson raised the point whether the mover of the motion would be able to withdraw the first clause, n3 it appeared certain that the intention of the motion would bo defeated. The motion was defeated, but Mr. Doblo gave a further notice in accordance with the opinions expressed. The Auckland Public Schools Aasistaut Masters' Association wrote stating that it would receive a deputation from the Auckland League at its next meeting on a date to bo arranged in November. The subject to be discussed will be the introduction of League football into the local schools. It was decided to donate £'s toward the expenses of the annual picnic of the Leaguo Glee Club, on October 81. In tho case of «T. Stormont, Marist. who was ordered ofT for auestioning the referee s decision, a caution was administered. Tho judicial committee added a rider that referees must attend future inquiries.
