DOMINION PRODUCTS.

MARKETS IN BRITAIN. HELP OF ECONOMIC COMMITTEE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT ] WELLINGTON. 'Wednesday. Speaking at the Wellington Chamber of Commerce luncheon to-day on the work of the Imperial Shipping Committee, Sir James Allen, said the committee's attitude was that if New Zealand wanted freights reduced they would have to endeavour to delay the ships in the Dominion for as short as time as possible, in order that more trips might he made each year. Sir James referred to the work of,.the Economic Committee, which had come into existence on-the'suggestion of Mr. Stanley Baldwin, who had endeavoured to make up to the Dominions the loss which he believed they had sustained as a result of the withdrawal of the preferences. The committee had urged the necessity of increasing the consumption in Great Britain of the produce of the Dominions. It recommended that provision be made, for the identification of goods in order that the people might know what they were buying. Financial assistance for education and publicity purposes had also been recommended, and the British Government would probably set. aside £1,000,000 for this purpose. There was to be j3 systematic education of the people of Britain. Fifteen per cent., of the money was to be. spent in research which, personally, he did not think was enough- Some of the money was to be devoted to the carriage of pedigree stock to the Dominions.
