FUNCTION AT Y.M.C.A.

FATHER AMD SON BANQUET. A very successful "father and son banquet" was held by the boys' division of the Y.M.C.A. on Saturday evening. Over 200 fathers and their sons were present. The chairman, Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, said the gathering would do much to foster happier relationships between fathers and their boys. In referring to a boy's outlook on life, Mr. R. A. Laiulaw said that a boy was a hero-worshipper who appealed to the father to play fairly at all times. Ho advised fathers to be patient and endeavour to understand their boys in all their problems and to be line pals. Several toasts were honoured during the evening and enthusiastic chorus singing was led hy Mr. R. If. Horsloy. Items were contributed by Messrs. James Rae, A. B. Thompson, I. Lambert and V. T, Drew.
