Mr. G. Rajola, of Italy, and Mr.' A. C. Ward and Mr. S. C. Ward, of Adelaide, are at the Grand Hotel. Mr. R. Lippincott returned to Auckland by the Niagara yesterday after a four months' visit to America. Mr. J. Laing, of the Hamilton Magistrate's Court staff, has been appointed clerk of the Court at Raetihi and Ohakune. Mr. and Mrs. R. Murphy, of Gisborne, who returned by the Niagara yesterday after a tour abroad, are at the Grand Hotel. Mr. H. S. Druiff and Mr. H. Evans, of London, Mr. J. McEnnis, of Whangarei, and Mr. G. E. King, of Hokianga, are at the Star Hotel. Captain and Mrs. T.'Mitchell, of Cambridge, Mr. and Mrs. M. Gillies, of WeLllington, and Mr. and- Mrs. H- Cockroft, of Taihape, are at the Royal Hotel. Mr. L. Blundell, of Wellington, was a passenger by the Niagara from Vancouver yesterday. "Accompanied by Mrs. Blundell, he has been on an extended trip abroad. ]3r. A. Paterson, of Christchurch, who has been attending the International Dental Congress at Philadelphia, returned by the Niagara yesterday. He was accompanied by Mrs. Paterson. Mr. S. N. Westwood, of San Francisco, Mr. F. A. Hall, of Canada, Mr. T. A. Banantyne, of Dargaville, and Mr. C. Porter, of Wellington, are at the Central HoteL The Rev. Joseph W. Kemp, minister in charge of the Baptist Tabernacle, returned to Auckland by the Niagara yesterday after a seven months' holiday trip to Great Britain and America. He was accompanied by Mrs. Kemp. Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Richardson, of Queensland, Mr. and Mrs. J. O'Riordan, of Sydney, Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Hannah, of Napier, and Mr. and Mrs. F, B. Clark, of Christchurch, are at the Grand Hotel. Mr. Lionel Nicol, Queensland manager of Messrs. Potter and Birks, Ltd., is a passenger by the Niagara. Mr. Nicol has been on a'visit to Philadelphia, New York and other cities in the Eastern States of America. Mr. Laurie Richardson, son of Mr. H. H. Richardson, inspector of schools, Auckland, who is a student at London University, has, won the British Empire Exhibition Scholarship, and has also gained the degree of Ph.D. in chemistry.
