COMMUNISTS IN DENMARK.
. THEATRE DEMONSTRATION. . FINN PRESIDENT INSULTED. MEMBER OF ROYAL PARTY. i t. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright, (Received 7.5 p.m.) ). A. and N.Z. COPENHAGEN, Oct. 9. There was a remarkable demonstration - by Communists against Dr. L. Relander, President of Finland, accompanying the , King and Queen of Denmark to a . theatre. , After the Danish national anthem had been played Communists showered hand- . bills from the gallery, shouting: "Down 3 with the bloodhound, Relander.". b The police arrested' seven of the 2 demonstrators. 7 Dr. Luauri Kristian Relander, who was elected President of Finland in Feb- . marv, 1925, belongs to the Agrarian . Party and is 43 years of age. With the exception of tho President of the Albanian Republic, Mr. Ahmed Zogu, 3 he is the youngest head of Stato in the r world. He has been a member of the . Finnish Riksdag since 1910, and in 1924 he became Minister of Finance; Tho election of Dr. Relander came as a •"suiprise. Ho was put up as a candidate t only a few days before the election took 5 place, and his success meant a victory for the ultra-Finnish elements and a rebuff to the Swedish element, who maintained that security for Finland in the future 3 ought to be- based on a close relationr ship with the Scandinavian countries. The Agrarian Party, in putting up their candidate, said they wanted as president 3 a man "so Finnish that it would be impossible to squeeze a single drop of Swedish blood out of him." The result of tho election was received with some regret in Scandinavian countries, where 3 a close political understanding with Finland always has been looked upon as a . matter of importance. f —■ - '
