EVENTS IN VICTORIA. ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 6.5 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Oct. 10. Despite adverse weather conditions, 110 cyclists participated in the road race from Warrnambool to Melbourne. The roads were rough and soaked by heavy rain and until Grelong was reached fast times were impossible. There was a following wind which helped the riders. Tho race resulted as follows: L. Einsidel, Victoria (48m), 8h 16m 9s. 1; D. J. Andrews, Victoria (54m), 2; A. G. Tammer, Victoria (48m), 3; H. Oppermati, Victoria, a scratch man, secured tho fastest time. He covered the distance in 7h 36m 10s. There was only one accident. Staplos (Now South Wales) badly gashed his head when ho fell from his machine. Ho dressed the wound himself and continued tho race. Attempts which were made to break tho 100-miles record which was established by Beasley last year, were futile, as the roads were too heavy. The Colac to Melbourne cycle road race for amateur riders resulted:—T. H. Marshall, Queensland (13m), 1; A. W. Charlton, Victoria (13m), 2; F. Williams, Victoria (17m), 3. Tho raco was ridden in light rain throughout. Marshall won in 4h 19m 455, which was also the fastest time. One minute separated tho first and second riders.
