SMOKERS OF OPIUM.
FULL FREEDOM RESTORED. PEKING GOVERNMENT ACTION. A. and N.Z. PEKING. Oct. 8. Tho Peking Government is desperately in need of funds. In view of this fact it has legalised opium smoking. After 15 years prohibition dealers and smokers aro now permitted to register their names on tho payment of a tax at a specially-established bureau. Thousands of opium smokers and dealers are complying with this requirement and doing business openly.
