CONTROL OF OTHER OFFICES. DUAL POST FOR MR. HAYES. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON. Friday. The transfer of the National Provident Fund and Friendly Societies Office to the direct control of the Treasury was announced to-day. Mr. R. E. Hayes, Secretary to the Treasury, , will, also occupy the position of superintendent of the National Provident Fund. Mr. Hayes, who joined the postal service at the age of 14, was born in Dunedin in 1869 and graduated successfully through the controller and accountant j branch at the head office at Wellington, i He was accountant of the Tourist and Industries Department, registrar of friendly societies, superintendent of the National Provident Fund, assistant secretary to the Treasury and finally secretary. He was made a companion of the Imperial Service Order in the last Birthdav Honours.
