PROGRESS OF FRANKLIN.
A CONFERENCE ARRANGED. [BT TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] PUKEKOITE, Friday. A conference of the four chambers of commerce in the Franklin district is to be held at Pukekohe next Wednesday to discuss matters of interest to tho district. The remits to be submitted embrace a wide variety of subjects, including further consideration for the district in the railway service, the publication of a descriptive booklet of Franklin with a view to attracting immigrants and others to the district, and thereby promoting closer settlement, and the appointment of ono delegate to represent the four chambers at the annual conference of the Associated Chambers of Commerce next month.. Delegates to Wednesday's conference have been appointed by the respective chambers as follows:—Pukekohe: Messrs. F. A. Hosking, H. 11. Pattle and S. P. Day. Papakura: Messrs. C. Garlick, A. Willis and C. E. Beechey. Waiuku: Messrs. A. Duthie and J. D. Chalmers and tho Rev. Father Taylor. Tuak.au: Messrs. S. W, Turley, G. Arrowsmith and P. A. Hillary. Mr. E. D. McLennan, M.P for Franklin, is also to take part. . The Pukekohe Chamber, as convener of the conference, is proposing that any member of any of the four chambers should be. allowed to attend and speak, but voting should be confined to delegates. '
