A proposal to acquire an area of about three acres on the water frontage of the Westmere Park Estate, facing Motion's Creek, on the harbour side of Grey Lynn, came before the Auckland City Council last evening. The owners of the estate had set aside about 1£ acres as a reserve on the water frontage, but in view of the excellent bathing beach at this point the Works Committee has been negotiating to acquire sufficient of the adjoining land, including an attractive headland, as a public reserve. The city engineer reported the owners would accept £1250, a Stim considered by the city valuer to be very reasonable.
