WORKERS' COMPENSATION.
RATES FOR INSURANCE. It was announced recently by tho manager of the New South Wales Stato Insurance Office that, acting under instructions from tho Premier, he was arranging for a general reduction of one-third in insuranco rates' under tho Workers', Compensation , Act, such reduction to take effect •as from October 1. It is probable that the reduction will not. apply to domestic employees, tho rates for whom, it is claimed, aro only nominal, bnt a decision in regard to these employees will be made later. The manager of the State Insuranco Office also stated that he had been asked to report whether, in the light of tho experience gained, ho considered a reduction greater than one-third at present appeared to be justified in respect of certain rural and mining; industries, such as general farm work,. timbergetting, sawmilling, chaffcutting, cartdngi < and metalliferous-mining..
