PROPOSED SCHOOL CARNIVAL. [BY TET/KGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] OHAKUNE, Thursday. Little enthusiasm has been exhibited in the fishing season and anglers aro dubious of much interest being shown in tho fishing of local waters. One sportsman secured scvon brown trout during the week-end.

Organisers of the proposed combined school carnival held a special meeting on Tuesday evening to make arrangements for tho carnival campaign. There aro three candidates, representing "Business," "Civil Service" and "Farmers and Sawmillers." It is proposed to hold a sports gala on Labour Day, winding up with a dance in the evening. The heavy coat of snow which has covered Mount Ruapehu during tho winter is fast disappearing on the lower slopes and tho snow-line is gradually receding to the usual summer level.
