THE PONSONBY CLUB. TUITION OF SCHOOL CHILDREN. The annual meeting of the Ponsonby Amateur Swimming and Life-saving Club was held last ovening, Mr. T. H. Crawford presiding. Tho annual report stated the past season was not as successful as in previous years. The results achieved from the educational classes were nil that could be desired, but owing to conditions that were beyond tho club's control and the lacjc of financial support the balance-sheet did not show a very promising balance. lhe club had to depend on the weather for successful carnivals and during tho past year overy carnival day proved to be anything but ideal. Tho children made every use of the instruction and tho results achieved by the club's instructor, Mr. D. B. Anderson, were all that could bo desired. Mr. Anderson was to be congratulated on his work and the headmasters and teachers desorved thanks for their assistance in helping the instructor to obtain such creditable results. As an incentive for the children to le:un to swim the club issued certificates to every child who could swim 25yds. A cup was also competed for by the five schools. At tho end of the season 683 certificates wero issued, 162 being from the club and 521 from the New Zealand Council. Currnn Street won the cup with a total of 185 certificates.
