TENNIS CLUB TO CONTINUE. NEW THEATRE PROPOSAL. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. J ROTORUA, Thursday. The service officer of the Auckland Automobile Association, Mr. R. Champtaloup, lias been making plans for erecting signs directing motorists in the town. He met tho Borough Council and discussed camping arrangements for the coming season. He predicted a great influx of motorists to Rotorua. Tonders are called for the erection of an up-to-date High School. A large block of land has been secured, allowing for plenty of plnving grounds. The annual meeting of the Rotorua Tennis Club was held on Wednesday evening. The president, Dr. Hay, presided. A notico of motion that the club should be wound up met with a good deal of opposition. Apparently the object of the motion was to arouse a deeper interest in the club's affairs. The motion was lost. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Dr. Bertram: president, Dr. Hay; vice-presidents, Messrs. F. F. Hockly, M.P., R. T. Hallett, H. Ilampson, F. Dodd and Judgo Holland; secretary and treasurer, Mr. N. Smith. The Borough Council met last evening. A- proposal was recoived from the Rotorua Theatre Company asking the Borough Council to apply for legislative power to raise a loan to erect a theatre. Tho Legal and Finance Committee, reported that they were unable to recommend the council to apply for statutory authority to build a theatre. The recommendation from the committee that the erection of a Town Hall and municipal offices should bo favourably considered was referred back to the committee. The question of a camping site was brought up at tho meeting of tho Borough Council. Messrs. nnd Company offered the site occupied last year on very generous terms. It was decided to equip the grounds with water, fireplaces and two or three shower baths. Firewood will be obtainable.

The official opening of the bowling club will take place on Saturday. Already 40 entries have been received for the club's tournament.
