LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

RUGBY UNION PLAYERS.

QUALIFICATION BARRIER. MOVE FOR CANCELLATION. The English League's reqnest that the residential qualification of two years placed on Rugby Union players desirous of turnning to League should bo removed, provoked a long discussion at last evening s meeting of the Management Committee of the Auckland Rapby League. Mr. E. Stallworthy said the matter had been discussed by tho New Zealand League, and it had been referred to each league for consideration. Tho chairman, Mr. W. J. Hammill, e&id it was a most serious matter, and all points of view should be most carefully discussed. Mr. Longbottom favoured the exploitation of Rugby Union players from New Zealand by English clubs. He said that none of the best known All Blacks would play League in New Zealand. There seemed, however, every possibility of those players playing League in England. They would be a gain to the code, aud be did not - think they should be "barred." Mr. R. Doble did not agree with the previous speaker. Ho considered the Auckland League should give overy assistance to fight the case of the Now Zealand Council, and he was of the opinion that no player either of League or of Rugby, should bo allowed to play outside the Dominion. A diversity of opinion was revealed by tbe remarks of oLher delegates and. after further discussion, it was decided to defer any suggestion until tho other leagrues had forwarded their opinions. The New Zealand Rugby League wroto advising that tho appeal of tho Parnell Club against the suspension of L. Lawrence had been dismissed. Tho decision was arrived at on the grounda that, no further evidence was forthcoming. Tho chairman intimated that in all past Northern Union cup matches tbe prices for admission were fixed at Is Gd for the stand and Is for tho ground. Mr. Davidson considered tho charge to the stand was excessive and ho moved that one shilling should bo charged. "This was agreed to.
