The charges of murder against Mrs. Dorothy May Perrin, who, it is alleged, drowned her four children in her homo at Riddler's Crescent., Petone, two or three weeks ago, have been withdrawn, pending her release from the mental hospital. When the case was called on remand in the Police Court, to-day, Mr. Leicester, who appeared for accused, reminded the Court of tho suggestion he had made to Mr. E. Page, S.M., that to obviato the necessity of week by week remands some finality should bo reached whereby the proceedings could be, at all events, held over until Mrs. Perrin was in a fit state to understand their purport. Counsel said tho magistrate had agreed with the suggestion and fnrther considered that it was a proper request to make. Chief-Dctectivo Ward said he had been instructed to ask ,that tho proceedings against Mrs. Perrin should, in the meantime, be withdrawn. If she camo out of the mental institution proceedings could be reinstated. The application for the withdrawal of proceedings was granted.
