LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
ROOPE ROOSTER FINAL.
RICHMOND V. DEVONPORT
EVENT AT CARLAW PARK
Followers of the League code should assemble in force at Carlaw Park to-morrow afternoon, when Devonport meets Richmond in tho final match for possession of the Roope Rooster. In defeating Ponsonby last Saturday Richmond showed form suggesting that it is capble of extending any team in the game. Richmqnd has assembled a strong side, well balanced in both back and forward divisions, for tomorrow's game. Tho recent form of Devonport has been of a high standard, but tho team will need to produce its best football to win the trophy. Another attraction will be a 100 yds. sprint championship. Among the entrants are many of Auckland's best players, who also have the ability to run a fast race. A Stallard Cup match will also be played at Carlaw Park between Parnell and Otahuhu. A great deal of interest centres in the appearance of teams at schoolboys, who will play the curtain-raisers on each ground. The teams are:— SENIOR GRADE. Richmond.—Hnnlon, Devon. Pollock took exception to tho failure of tho English League to provide an itinerary in connection with the New Zealand team's present tour. He said it was shameful that the venue of each game wats not known for certain. Mr, W. 0. Carlaw said it was apparent from recent correspondence received that the coal strike was causing the English League some concern, especially as regards the North of England.- Perhaps the league was not in a position to make or confirm any arrangements. The chairman said the English League had beon asked for information on two occasions. It was decided In take no further action. _ The advance of the, game on the West Coast was enthusiastically referred to in a letter received from Mr. T. Touhey. He said a game would be played at Denniston on Sunday. His request for two footballs was granted. The Canterbury League wrote nominating Mr. W Hc-aley as a life member of the council. After discussion it was decided to inform the League that the new rules governing the award stipulate that such elections can only bo made at tho annual meeting of the council. An application from the Wellington League for payment of out-of-pocket expenses for players who - took part in a recent trial gamo was agreed to.
