Just beforo closing time a man drovo up to one of tho large leather emporiums with a heavy wardrobe trunk, rife bought a second of about the same size, and received. permission to leave bolli in tho shop on deposit, until the next morning, when ho wished to catch a train.

Accordingly tho next morning tho purchaser called, paid for the new trunk, and took both away. Shortly afterwards the manager of the shop noticed that goods amounting to more than £IOO0 # in value wore missing. Police inquiries showed that tho first heavy trunk contained an accomplice, who during the nigh!, filled tho new trunk with leather goods from the* shop, and tho next morning was carrier! away inside, the trunk.
