HENDERSON TOWN BOARD.
PLANS FOR NEW BRIDGE
The first meeting of the recentlyelected Henderson Town Board was held this week. A largo number of ratepayers attended. Mr. E. G* Rovfntree, who headed the poll at the election, was elected chairman. A letter was received from the board's engineer, Mr. R. P. Worley, offering to explain the proposed sewerage scheme. It was decided to obtain further information on the subject beforo accepting tho offer. The district electrical engineer wrote to the effect that it was proposed to convey tho new electric power transformers by rail to Henderson and then by motor-truck over tho Coronation Bridge and concrete road. Ho asked whether the bridge would sustain the full load. It was decided to reply suggesting that the transformers be unloaded at R'aniu station, as the Coronation Bridge was not considered equal to the strain. Plans and specifications were received from Mr. Worley for the reconstruction of the school bridge at a cost of £2513. The plans provided for a 20ft,. roadway, 4ft. 6in. in footpaths, and the raising of the bridge 2ft. higher than tho present level. It was resolved to forward the plans to the Highway Board for approval. The fire brigade requested the erection of a siren in somo convenient position for the purpose of calling 'tho members of the brigade together, in case of fire. The matter was deferred until the next .meeting. The city engineer forwarded particulars of the cost of the concrete road up to date, and suggested a further progress payment. Tho letter was referred to the Finance Committee. It was decided that in future all employees of tho board on daily wages or commission should be. insured under tho Workers' Compensation Act.
