In. extending a welcome to tho visitors, tie chairman said that yachting, either sailing or launching, was the finest sport'possible and there was no reason why it should not be Auckland's most favoured pagtimo, The past season had been , devoted mostly to speed-boats and all' would agree it had been a very good one. Launch racing was not . like yacht racing and it must be realised that to,get right down to something more exciting than the formor, speed-boat racing must be resorted to. In four years the association had made excellent progress and he hoped thd- time Was not far off vfrhen intercolonial races .would be arranged-.between New Zealand and Australia. Mr. Liinn paid a tribute to the enthusiasm put into the association by tho commodore and appealed to the younger men to conie forward and "take • a pull on the rope," and thus help, things along. v . ..• ••. _ In presenting the prizes.
