SWORD-FISHING BOATS.
ADDITIONS TO THE FLEET. NUMBER UNDER CONSTRUCTION. ZANE GREY'S ARRANGEMENTS. There is every indication that the next sword-fishing season at the Bay of Islands will be a record one and preparations are being made to provi'de facilities for deep-sea anglers from all parts of the world. One of the chief needs of the fisherman is a fast, seaworthy launch and a, number of suitable boats are already under conduction as additions to the fleet. Three of the boats are being built by Messrs. Collings and Bell, of St. Mary's Bay, and a fourth has been ordered by Mr. John Holmes, of Frankton Junction, a well-known big-game hunter. All the boats are on the lines of the Alma G., the launch used by Mr. Zane Grey during his stay in the Bay of Islands, in the early part of this year. The principal feature is the concave-convex bottom, the patented design of the builders. The boats will have a length of 35ft. with a beam of Bft 6in. and each will be fitted with a six-cylinder 50-65 horse-power Redwing motor. Mr. Zane Grey has announced that he is returning to New Zealand next January, and he has engaged the Alma G. and one of the new boats, which is to be named after him.
