KALGOORLIE MURDERS.
CONTINUATION OF TRIAL. CASE FOR THE ACCUSED. A. and N.Z. PERTH. Aug. 27. The case for the defence was opened to-day at the trial of Phillip Treffene and William Coulter, who are charged with the murder of Inspector Walsh near Kalgoorlie. Mr. Haynes, counsel for accused, said both Walsh and his colleague Fitman were shot. He would produce evidence, to bear this out, also that the two detectives were shot under circumstances which would entitle TreSene to an acquittal.
