EXPLOSION IN A MINE.
PENNSYLVANIA DISASTER. FORTY-SIX MEN MISSING. ALL HOPE ABANDONED. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. (Received 7.5 p.m.) Renter. NEW YORK, Aug. 2G. A mining disaster occurred at Clymer, Pennsylvania. Forty-six miners are believed to have been killed in an explosion in one of the pits. Five men escaped alive. All hope for the remainder of the. workers who were underground when the explosion took place has been abandoned. Rescue parties braved the deadly gases in the mine and succeeded in bringing out the five survivors and three bodies.
