THE PRICE OF LEMONS.
Sir. —Townspeople are crying out. about the excessive prico of fruit as charged by the retailers. I am a citrus fruitgrower and have made investigations. Last week, I received at market 9s a case of 240 Erst-class lemons. The case cost me Is, cartage 6d, commission 6d; total, 2s. My net profit was 7s, or 1.4 of a farthing each lemon. I went round a number of retail shops to-day and found that lemons of the quality I had sold at less than id each, were selling at 2d each. Who gets the profit—grower 1.4 of a farthing, seller 2d? Citrus Grower.
