BOROUGH LIBRARY PROPERTY DRAINAGE OF FLOOD WATER. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. J TAURANGA, Friday. At a special meeting of the Tsuranga Borough Council last evening the Mayor, Mr. B. Dive, 6aid the council bad received an offer of £750 for the library, property, but it could not be sold without the consent of the Governor-General, as it had been handed over for library purposes. It was stated that legislation would be necessary if a sale were to be cffectod, The Mayor said it would bo too late to get legislation through during the current session. A motion was then adopted to.the effect that the contemplated building scheme for the library and house wiring department be referred to the Electricity .Committee to report upon, with a recommendation from the council that a showroom in a convenient position be Jeased for.. 12 months, the Electricity Committee to submit a report as to showrooms available. Messrs. D, A. Ivory and R. D. Kempster were to-{lay declared elected to two vacancies on the Tauranga Borough Council. Mr. P. Gibbons, who has been keeper of the Tauranga Bowling Club's green for the past three years, has secured a similar appointment "with the Gisborne Bov/ling Club. He will leave Tauiranga next week. A dredge i 3 now at work in the Atuaroa district making a cut from the railway line to connect with the new cut from the Atuaroa Bridge to the Kaituna., The result will be the ready carrying off of flood waters from the Atuaroa area and the improvement of more country.
