SUBURBAN DRAINAGE.

PROVISION F©R STORM WATER PLANS TO BE PREPARED. The scheme to provide storm-water drainage 1 in portions of Mount Albert, Mount Eden and Mount Roskill, which are subject ifb flooding, was advanced a further stage this week by the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board approving of the engineer's suggestion that plans should be prepared immediately. A letter was received by the board from the Mount Albert Borough Council urging that improvements should be effected at Meola Creek in connection with the drainage scheme recently adopted in conjunction with the Mount Albert and Mount Eden Borough Councils. The engineer recommended that the board should consider proposals for stormwater and sewage drainage on condition that the Auckland City Council and the three borough counciW paid the cost of increasing the capac?*j of the upper | length of the No. 8 branch sewer. The additional work would cost about £IO,OOO, and the improvement of Meola Creek would cost £17,000. This expenditure should be debited to the local bodies upon i the basis approved by them. * A legal opinion submitted to the board advised that there was no liability in respect to the improvement of Meola Creek. The engineer was instructed to proceed with the survey and the preparation of the plans.
